Join the Board of Directors for a Health and Wellbeing CIC

Description

Would you like to be part of a team that helps tackle health inequalities in our community? Our mission is to help people out of pain and into health.

In Touch Health and Healing are looking for volunteers to join our board of directors. The role would suit people with an interest in community wellbeing, using and developing their strategic skills and helping a small social enterprise to grow. If you have time, energy and passion for our cause, we want to hear from you!

In Touch has supported the Chapeltown community with complementary therapies and healthy activities for over 12 years. At our core is a belief in the efficacy of complementary therapies, and a commitment to social equality. We make our services available to those who wouldn't otherwise be able to access them. We are currently providing physiotherapy for people seeking asylum, older people and local people affected by the financial crisis, as well free yoga classes, exercise for elders and Zumba for women.

Directors are the overseers and decision-makers of the company. Together, they set and maintain our vision, mission and values, and support the workers to deliver them. They oversee the company’s finance and ensure we are legally and financially viable. We are particularly looking for people with an understanding of Human Resources and employment law, Marketing, Business Development or Corporate law, but if you have something to offer outside of these categories we would still love to hear from you.

The minimum time commitment is attendance at one meeting per month. Meetings may be in person or online but we try to meet in person at least once a quarter. At these meetings, we:

- Check that the company is carrying out its purposes for the benefit of the community

- Oversee the management of the company’s finances

- Carry out visioning, forecasting and strategy

- Contribute to the management of employees and volunteers

- Establish and monitor policies and procedures

- Ensure compliance with Companies House and HMRC

Outside of meetings, directors are advocates of the organisation and safeguard its good name and values. They are occasionally called on to answer queries from other members of the team, on an ad hoc basis.

Directors are also welcome to take on other work. This could fall under the following categories:

- PR, Marketing and Social Media

- Fundraising

- HR and employment

- Administration

- Finance

You would not be obliged to take this on, and we would still like to hear from you if you can only commit to the minimum. Any input you could offer would be hugely appreciated. We are looking forward to your call!
